In our Carver X review we have a look at the new model from Onean which is positioned as an electric surfboard for heavy riders.

Riders above 80kg were struggling with many different electric jetboards in the past unless you invest ways beyond 10,000 EUR.

Onean now wants to change this and is offering the Carver X for 8,500 EUR plus tax and shipping and this would be currently the cheapest electric surfboard who can handle riders above 80kg at a decent speed.

Onean will keep the Carver in its portfolio to address riders under 80 kg for a cheaper price. Also the Onean Manta is still on sale as a family leisure board.

Coming back to the Carver X review.

The Carver X is using the same engine, battery and remote control like the Carver and Manta. This is very convenient if you own multiple Onean boards for different use cases.

However, other than the Carver, the Carver X is powered by 2 jet engines and 2 batteries. The 10kW of power can even handle riders over 100kg.

The riding time is promoted with about 40 minutes which we could confirm in our test rides.

The charging time is about 2.5 hours and you have 2 chargers to charge both batteries at the same time.

We were able to do a couple of test rides with the Carver and Carver X recently and our rider had 92 kg plus wetsuit.

As expected the Carver couldn’t accelerate us enough to reach planning, but the Carver X had no problem to accelerate us to a decent speed of about 35 km/h or more.

We have recently seen a video of a 75 kg rider who achieved 43 km/h.

Onean also upgraded their remote control. We always were a fan of the wristband remote control as it makes standing up and swimming very easy. We were not so sure about the pressure sensor, but some people liked it.

You now have the option to add a trigger to the remote control, which we felt gives you a much smoother control about the speed. The trigger is around 35 EUR and can be used for Carver and Carver X remotes.

The Carver X is 240 cm long and 90 cm wide and has a volume of 157 litres at a weight of 18 kg without the 2 batteries.

The package includes the Carver X board, 1 wireless remote with optional trigger, 2 batteries, 2 chargers, 1 remote charger, 1 fin set, 2 foot straps and one security leash.

You can buy spare batteries for about 1,800 EUR.

The lead time for new orders is currently 3-4 weeks.
