The Mellow Drives are probably the best electric skateboard conversion kits in the market, however the Mellowboards price starting around 1.700 EUR made it a luxury kit for most skaters.

After being 2 years in the market the company merged with their production partner TQ-Group and is bringing the Mellowboards price down.

The Hamburg (Germany) based company also introduces the “MELLOW DRIVE S”, which reduces the performance of the MELLOW DRIVE with software. The S model makes 25 km/h instead of 40 km/h and is also missing the “endless ride” mode.

In the “endless ride” mode you don’t need a remote control. You kick the electric skateboard to a certain speed and it will keep this speed for a while before it slows down over time.

The S model is a good choice for electric skateboard beginners and the beauty is that the user can “upgrade” the models S with new firmware to unlock the 40 km/h speed and endless ride mode.

The MELLOW DRIVE S is selling for 699 EUR (1.299 EUR before), but you need your own deck, front trucks and front wheels.

The same is true for the MELLOW DRIVE which is selling now for 999 EUR (1.699 EUR before).

This is a nice and welcome drop in the Mellowboards price.

The MELLOW DRIVE SET comes with front trucks and front wheels and sells for 1.079 EUR.

If you want a complete board (which we recommend for beginners) you have the choice between the shorter MELLOW CRUISER for 1.199 EUR or the MELLOW SURFER electric longboard for 1.249 EUR.

If you think the Mellowboards price is still high, you might be right, but it is a high quality product as you can read in our Mellowboards review.

We compared it to other electric skateboard conversion kits such like Onan X2 and Onan X3 and feel that the MELLOW DRIVE is currently the best kit.

They offer 2 years warranty and their 99 Wh battery packs are approved for air travel.

It is riding very smooth and you can use it as an ordinary skateboard when the motor is turned off.
