In our Mo-Bo Classic Wood review we will have a closer look at the off-road electric skateboard from Germany.
We had the Mo-Bo Classic Wood 800 in-house for a couple of days which is the so called „original“ from Mo-Bo.
The first Generation of this off-road electric skateboard was launched about 8 years ago.
The 2017 model has a new remote control and approved suspension, but otherwise looks pretty much the same than in 2009.

Off-road electric skateboard
It is hard to directly compare the Mo-Bo with other electric longboards as an off-road electric skateboard is designed for a different use case. It’s supposed to run in the woods, on gras or the beach. The massive deck with very good grip, the lead gel batteries and the big off-road wheels come with a massive weight. The Mo-Bo skateboard is 35 kg (77 lb) and therefore 4 times the weight compared to other electric longboards.

This giant electric monster truck starts at 699 USD, but you better do not live a one room apartment in the 3rd floor. It is massive and needs space. Mo-Bo has however other street models to serve different customers.
The Mo-Bo Classic Wood is designed for people who live in the country side and have enough place in their garage. If you enjoy rides through the nature you can get models with a range up to 100 km (62 miles) which is impressive. However, you don’t want to run out of battery power and carry this off-road electric skateboard back 😉
If you turn out to carve the street with the Mo-Bo it is a unique feeling. The deck is 22 cm (8.7 inch) above the street, which almost feels like an eFoil on the water 🙂

Mo-Bo Classic Wood review - specs
The 800 Watt entry level model accelerates the Mo-Bo up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph) and indicates the battery charge with LED’s on the remote control. The distance is between 15-20 km (9-13 miles) depending on the weight of the rider and where you ride.
If you need more power you can can order models with up to 4,000 watt, lithium ion battery and 2 motors. The lithium ion battery version has a weight of 22 kg (48.5 lb) can reach up to 45 km/h (28 mph). The price does however go up to 2,799 USD.
Back to the Mo-Bo Classic Wood review. It took us 5-6 hours to charge the battery and with 70 db (A) the electric off-road skateboard is not louder than other E-Boards.

The remote control has 7 LED’s to display the current speed (no. 8 on the picture above). Each LED represents 5 km/h (3.1 mph).
With the speed button (no.3) you can chose between 2 speed modes. The LED (no.4) blinks slow in the mode up to 10 km/h (6.2 mph) and fast in the mode up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph).
The remote connects automatically with the board and is confirming this with an LED (no. 6), but you can also manually connect with a button (no. 5).
5 LED’s (no. 7) are showing the battery power which is left and you turn on and off the remote with button no. 2. It is quite hard to see the LED’s in bright sunshine.
Mo-Bo is offering 2 years warranty according to german laws, but only 6 months on the battery.
Given that the Mo-Bo Classic Wood was launched 8 years ago gives confidence about proven technology. In Germany they can ship within 3-4 days.
