Scubajets are diving scooters and SUP motors from Klagenfurt, Austria. Already in 2017 the first products were announced.
E-Surfer & Scubajets
The E-Surfer team contacted Scubajet founder Armin right after the first announcements in 2017 and published a preview about the Scubajets on our blog. We were originally promised a test copy in the same year, but it wasn't until 2018 that we were able to do our first tests.
Such delays were nothing special in the electric water toys industry at that time. It usually takes two years to go from working prototype to production model.
E-Surfer has been an authorized dealer of Scubajet since 2020.

SUP Motor
During our first tests we were mainly interested in the use as SUP motor. Here, the motor is inserted into the fin box of the stand up paddle surfboard instead of the fin. The acceleration is controlled by a kind of watch on the wrist.
The design and workmanship of the Scubajet have already convinced us in the first version. In the meantime, however, some improvements have been introduced.
When used as a SUP motor, we recommend the large 400 Wh battery.
The jet engine promises a speed of up to 11 km/h with a range of 200 minutes. However, probably not at full throttle. Moreover, the range depends not only on the speed, but also on the weight of the rider and the conditions (wind, waves, etc.).
Diving scooter
The Scubajet was originally developed as a diving scooter. For this purpose, instead of the fin adapter, a dual hand controller is used, which - just like the fin adapter - is simply plugged onto the motor.

Since the Scubajets with 3 to 4 kg does not float itself, the use for children is only suitable in shallow use. Experienced divers can secure the Scubajet to the vest with a safety line.
Airline approved Batteries
Since lithium ion batteries may only be carried in passenger aircraft up to a maximum capacity of 100 Wh, the Austrian manufacturer has come up with a special feature.
In addition to the standard 200 Wh and 400 Wh batteries, there are also flight-qualified batteries. These each consist of 100 Wh elements that can be plugged together.

Unboxing
To give you an idea of what is included with the Scubajets and how to mount the SUP motor, we have produced the following video for the E-Surfer Youtube channel:
We have been using the Scubajets since 2018. Mostly as an E-SUP, but also gladly as a diving scooter. For example, on vacation in Croatia or on the Côte d'Azur 😉
