ELECTRIC SUP BOARD – E-SUP

An electric SUP board also known as E-SUP does not fit into our main category of electric surfboards, which you can compare in our 2017 electric surfboard comparison.

They are basically to slow and you cannot glide like on a surfboard or snowboard.

That’s said, we thought it would be interesting to cover them at least in an article as there are several brands out they become more.

An E-SUP is available as a complete board usually around 2,000 to 3,000 USD or as a conversion kit which can upgrade your existing SUP for about 1,000 USD to 2,000 USD.

Aquativity electric SUP board

Aquativity from London in the UK is selling a range of E-SUP boards called Powerboard which come with their own Fin-Drive Systems technology.

They claim that the E-SUP is behaving like a normal SUP if the power is turned off.

It comes with weight of 19 kg (42 Pound) and a range of 35 minutes continued runtime at up to 8-11 km/h (5-7 mph). The charging time is also 35 minutes.

Current Drives E-SUP ELECTRAFIN

The Electrafin E-SUP KIT from Current Drives is selling about 1,899 USD. This electric conversion kit can be connected to your existing SUP surfboard.

You replace your fin with the propeller unit and hook a battery pack with some straps to your board.

This electric conversion kit for SUP surfboards offers variable speeds up to 8 – 13 km/h (5-8 mph) for a 12 mile (19 km) range. It takes 4-5 hours to re-charge it.

It ships with a water resistant wireless remote control to adjust the speed.

The Cruiser from Sipaboards

Sipaboards from Switzerland offers with „The Cruiser“ a self inflatable electric SUP board for 2,190 USD.

This E-SUP is not using a propeller, but has a jet engine built into the board. A LED illumination underneath the board supports you when you ride at night.

The bluetooth remote is connected to the paddle. The SIPA-App for your smartphone connects with the board and shows you the PSI of the board, can track your tours and it can act as board finder.

The board is 3.35 metres (11 feet) long, 80 cm width (31 inches) and 14 cm thick (5.5 inches) and comes with a weight of 9.75 kg (21.5 lbs).

It charges in 3 hours and shall also give you 3 hours of paddle support. It can handle riders up to 102 kg (225 lbs).

The 160 watt power can accelerate you up to 3.5 knots (6.5 km/h or 4 mph). It self inflates within 5 minutes.

Scubajet from Austria also launched a conversion kit where you replace your fin with a jet engine. It has a diameter of 8 cm, a weight of 3 kg (6.6 lbs) and a range of up to 4 hours.

With 2,000 watt is the Scubajet supposed to accelerate you up to 12 km/h (8 mph). It comes with a remote control which offers 3 different riding modes and has a auto-shut-off feature if you fall into the water.

With different adapters you can connect the Scubajet also to kayaks or even use it for snorkeling and diving.

Depending on if your choose the 400 Wh or 200 Wh battery pack the price is between 1,490 and 1,190 EUR.
