Electric Wakeboards 2026: What electric wakeboards are available for purchase?

Are you looking for an electric wakeboard? Then you should take a look at the jetboards from Awake. The electric wakeboard from Sweden.

By Andreas Lakeberg — Founder of E-SURFER, electric water sports expert since 2017, and board member of the Global Foil Board Sports Association (GFA)

As of May 2026

An electric wakeboard lets you wakeboard without a boat or tow rope—the electric motor provides propulsion directly from the board. According to E-SURFER, which has been testing all leading electric water sports equipment since 2017, the Awake Rävik is the best-known electric wakeboard on the market. This article highlights the available models, their prices, and how they perform.

The jetboard from Awake Boards in Sweden comes pretty close to an electric wakeboard. Unlike other jetboard manufacturers, the Rävik models do not have a handlebar - they rely entirely on foot straps.

The electric wakeboard models Rävik Adventure and Rävik Ultimate (even sportier) are not quite cheap at EUR 15,000 to 20,000, but at least they are cheaper than a wakeboard boat 😉 In return, you get top quality with a cool design and the latest technology.

What's more, you can ride alone without a boat or cable car and no trailer is required. You can actually fit such an electric wakeboard in any car with a folding rear seat.

We have made a video about jetboards for our E-SURFER YouTube channel. Here you can also see the Awake Rävik:

How does an electric wakeboard work?

The Awake electric wakeboard ( a surfboard with motor) also takes a different approach to propulsion than its competitors. While other jetboards suck the water up under the board and expel it at the back, the large inlet on this wakeboard with motor is perpendicular to the water surface.

This solution has several advantages. The Awake boards suck in much more water and therefore offer plenty of propulsion. On the other hand, less air is sucked in, which prevents misfires and always ensures pressure even during very fast maneuvers.

Unlike the eFoils, the motor power of the jetboards is over 7.5 kW - which means that a recreational craft license has been required for these electric motors in some regions since January 2023.

Electric wakeboard riding experience

Of course, an electric wakeboard is not quite as maneuverable as a normal wakeboard. This is due to the size (you need the buoyancy) and, above all, the weight of the motor and battery. But at up to 57 km/h, you can really step on the gas.

You accelerate with a radio remote control in your hand and steer by shifting your body weight. Depending on your riding style, one battery charge lasts up to 55 minutes.

Even though these boards are quite heavy, they are still capable of very fast maneuvers. The Awake team surfed the waves in Nazaré with these boards, did back flips and - as you can see in the photo - completed very high jumps.

The smaller and therefore even sportier Rävik Ultimate model is as follows:

  • Top speed 55 km/h
  • From zero to 50 km/h in 5 seconds
  • Weight of the board without battery 21 kg
  • 11kW power - AMO V2
  • V2 AESC controller
  • AHVC V2 remote control
  • 3 speed levels
  • Dimensions: 175 x 61 x 27 cm
  • Underwater hull: W shape
  • Rocker: Aggressive
  • Stern: Slim
  • Buoyancy: 52 kg
  • Ride time: 15 - 20 minutes (standard battery)
  • Ride time: 20 - 45 minutes (XR battery)
  • Charging time: 2 hours
  • Weight of standard battery: 18 kg (1.9 kWh power)
  • Weight XR battery: 22 kg (2.8 kWh power)
  • Foot straps recommended

The smaller Rävik Ultimate is slightly slower. This is because it is lower in the water due to its smaller volume and displaces more water. On the other hand, it is more maneuverable 😉

Electric Wakeboard - Frequently Asked Questions

What is an electric wakeboard?

An electric wakeboard is a motorized board with a built-in electric motor and jet propulsion - you don’t need a boat or a rope. The electric motor accelerates the board to speeds of up to 55 km/h. The best-known model is the Awake Rävik from Sweden, which E-SURFER has been testing since 2017 and offers at its Berlin showroom.

How much does an electric wakeboard cost?

Electric wakeboards cost between 10,000 and 25,000 euros. The Awake Rävik starts at around 14,000 euros, while the more powerful Rävik Ultimate is priced higher. More affordable alternatives in electric watersports include eFoils (starting at 12,000 euros) or electric jetboards—which offer a different but similarly intense riding experience.

How long does the battery on an electric wakeboard last?

Depending on riding style, the battery life of an electric wakeboard ranges from 30 to 60 minutes. The Awake Rävik offers about 40 minutes of riding fun at full power - and even longer at moderate speeds. According to E-SURFER, that’s enough for an intense session on the water.

Do you need a boat for an electric wakeboard?

That's right - that's the biggest advantage of an electric wakeboard. The built-in electric jet engine handles all the propulsion. You can ride it on any calm body of water without a boat, rope, or any other equipment - and the board fits in your car.

Was ist der Unterschied zwischen Elektro Wakeboard und eFoil?

An electric wakeboard stays on the surface of the water - you ride it standing up without lifting off. An eFoil lifts out of the water thanks to hydrofoil wings and glides through the air. Both have an electric motor and a battery, but they differ greatly in how they feel to ride: the e-wakeboard is more action-packed, while the eFoil is smoother and more gliding.

Conclusion

I have been riding the Rävik electric wakeboard myself for 3 years and am more than satisfied. I like the design, the power and the freedom to ride without a handlebar. The game changer compared to other electric surfboards is the drive, which always ensures constant pressure.
