PWRfoil is a French manufacturer of eFoils created by Chris Defrance. Chris had already founded RedWoodPaddle, a successful water sports brand for SUP boards.
If you take the three capital letters RWP out of the name RedWoodPaddle and turn them around, you get PWR. This is how the name PWRfoil was created, but it is pronounced like the English “power foil” 😉

The eFoil manufacturer PWRfoil focuses almost exclusively on the French market and has no dealer network. They only sell directly to end customers. The eFoils are manufactured in Morocco.
Chris and his team visited us for the first time in March 2022 in Berlin to present the boards. Of course, we also rode the eFoils ourselves back then. At the time, we produced the following video for the E-SURFER YouTube channel:

At that time, we already had three premium eFoils in our range: Aerofoils, Fliteboard and Lift Foils. The PWR eFoil was offered at a very affordable price (about half the price of the premium brands). It was the first generation of PWRfoil eFoils.
Of course, a professional immediately recognizes the differences in workmanship and design when comparing it to much more expensive eFoil. This is not meant negatively, because after all, it only costs half as much. “You get what you pay for,” as the saying goes.
The PWRfoil had two special features compared to other eFoils. Firstly, it had a magnetic kill switch (like a jetboard) that was attached to the ankle. This is pulled off in the event of a fall and the motor stops. Personally, I found this leash a bit annoying, especially since the motor stops anyway if the remote control gets underwater.
On the other hand, the battery is not placed in the board from above, but from below. This is to ensure that the top of the board is completely flat.
The PWRfoil eFoils cost between €7,000 and €9,000 including 19% VAT, depending on the model and features.
A PWRfoil is an eFoil or electric hydrofoil. A surfboard that floats above the water.

Yes. There's no eFoil-specific national law in the UK, and recreational eFoils need no national registration or licence — so your PWRfoil eFoil is legal to own and ride. What matters is local: coastal byelaws and harbour authorities regulate personal watercraft, while inland waters such as the Canal & River Trust (licence) or the River Thames (registration) set their own rules. Full overview here: eFoils in the UK: rules, licences & where to ride.
No. The UK has no national licence requirement for recreational eFoils — the rules are local and operator-based. Harbour authorities and byelaws govern the coast; some inland operators require a licence (Canal & River Trust) or registration (River Thames), and in Scotland motorboats need a Scottish Navigation Licence. Your PWRfoil eFoil needs no national licence.
Insurance isn't required by national law in the UK, but we strongly recommend third-party liability cover — without it you're personally liable for damage to others. Some operators require it: the River Thames, for example, mandates third-party insurance for motorised craft, and many clubs and inland navigations ask for proof before you launch.
