The first international eFoil World Cup on German soil is in the books: at the SFT E-Foil World Cup Munich 2026, the Aerofoils team reached the podium — with a World Cup runner-up finish, the Masters title and a U19 win.

As of June 2026
The eFoil World Cup Munich 2026 — the SFT E-Foil & Pump Foil World Cup held as part of the Munich Water Days from 12 to 14 June 2026 — was won by Justin Chait (USA). For the Aerofoils team it was an outstanding event: Clemens Kresser took silver in the Pro class and the Masters title, Mats Lakeberg won the U19 division as the youngest rider in the pro field, and E-SURFER coach Jan Tolkmitt finished 7th.
How did the Aerofoils riders perform at the eFoil World Cup Munich 2026?
The Aerofoils riders were among the strongest in the field at the eFoil World Cup Munich 2026 — with three top placings in the Pro class and two category wins (Masters and U19). Here are the results of the E-Foil discipline (Pro division) at a glance:
- Clemens Kresser (AUT): 2nd Pro overall + 1st Masters Men (40+)
- Jan Tolkmitt (GER, E-SURFER coach): 7th Pro
- Mats Lakeberg (GER): 16th Pro overall + 1st U19 (youngest rider in the pro field)
- Mischa Fritsch (AUT): 17th Pro
The overall E-Foil winner was Justin Chait of the USA, ahead of Clemens Kresser and Manel Arpa Zuriguel (ESP). For the full results, see the official Surffoil World Tour event page. Having four Aerofoils riders finish this high in an international field is a strong signal — for the riders and for the equipment alike.
According to E-SURFER, this result shows how competitive the Aerofoils boards are at the highest level: anyone who holds their own against the world’s best on a tight course isn’t riding a hobby device — they’re riding race technology.
Clemens Kresser — World Cup runner-up and Masters champion
Clemens Kresser was the most successful Aerofoils rider in Munich: 2nd in the Pro overall standings plus victory in the Masters class (40+). That put him on the podium twice.

Behind overall winner Justin Chait, Kresser rode consistently in the lead group all weekend. In the Masters standings he came out ahead of Piet Varkevisser (NED) and Simon Axmann (AUS). This double result — silver overall and gold in the Masters — makes him one of the defining faces of the first German eFoil World Cup.
E-SURFER founder Andreas Lakeberg explains: “In Munich, Clemens showed that experience and race technology have to come together. Two podium finishes in one weekend — you only manage that with perfect preparation and a board you can rely on 100 percent.”
Mats Lakeberg — U19 champion and youngest rider in the pro field
Mats Lakeberg won the U19 division at the eFoil World Cup Munich 2026 and finished 16th in the Pro overall standings — as the youngest competitor in the entire pro field. A strong result for a 16-year-old against international competition.

In the U19 class he finished ahead of Leonard Niebel (GER) and Finn Martens (BEL). For me as a father, this win is of course a special moment: Mats is my son — and seeing him at the very top of the U19 podium at the first international eFoil World Cup in Germany was the emotional highlight of the weekend.
According to E-SURFER, the performance of the young riders is perhaps the most important signal coming out of Munich: eFoil racing has a next generation that already keeps pace at World Cup level. Anyone who wins the U19 division at 16 today, while also being the youngest starter in the pro field, will be part of the extended world elite tomorrow.
How did Jan Tolkmitt and Mischa Fritsch do?
Jan Tolkmitt finished 7th in the Pro overall standings, making him the second-best Aerofoils rider in Munich — Mischa Fritsch followed in 17th.
Jan Tolkmitt isn’t just a racer but also a coach within the E-SURFER team. His top-7 result in a field of more than 20 pro riders underlines how closely coaching and competing are linked: anyone who gets others onto the board has to ride at the highest level themselves.
Mischa Fritsch rounded out the Aerofoils line-up in the Pro class in 17th — a result that doesn’t reflect his actual ability. Fritsch is one of the best eFoilers in the world and consistently rides at the top level. In Munich, a single missed buoy in the final heat cost him a much better placing — without that mistake he would clearly have finished further forward.
We’ve been testing every leading eFoil model ourselves since 2017 — and at competitions like Munich we see first-hand how equipment and riding skill behave under racing pressure.

The SFT E-Foil & Pump Foil World Cup Munich 2026 was the first official international eFoil race in Germany — held from 12 to 14 June 2026 at the Munich Olympic Rowing Regatta Course as part of the Munich Water Days.

There were two disciplines: E-Foil Racing (motorised) for €10,000 in prize money, and Pump Foil (no motor, powered purely by body movement) for a further €5,000.
