eFoil Scooter review - Flitescooter or Audi HyperFly?

Flitescooter or Audi HyperFly? In our eFoil Scooter review, we compared both. There is a favorite for us.

Today we are talking about eFoil Scooters. In particular, the Flitescooter from Fliteboard and the Audi HyperFly from Aerofoils.

eFoil Scooter

What are these eFoil scooters for and who are they for? Well, I would say that scooters are the easiest form of eFoiling. While you couldn't just give out a normal eFoil, for example, in rental or on a luxury yacht, because it would be too dangerous without training, it's different with eFoil scooters.

For one thing, these eFoil scooters have a lot of volume, both around 230 liters. This high volume allows you to stay on the board without having to get into the water.

Then you have a shortened mast with 60 centimeters, so if the tip goes down at the front, you don't fall over the handlebars.

Then, of course, you have the handlebars to hold on to. While with the eFoil you only have two points of contact with the board (the two feet), with the eFoil Scooter you have four points of contact with the board (hands and feet). This gives you a very safe feeling.

Of course, they all have a jet drive, which is much safer than a propeller. And last but not least: you hardly have a chance of coming into contact with the wing, because as soon as you fall and hold on to the handlebars, the wing automatically turns to the other side 😉

Flitescooter or HyperFly?

Now let's move on to the differences between the Flitecooter and the Hyperfly. At first glance they look very similar, they both have approximately the same volume, both have a removable handlebar, both have a 60 cm mast and both have a jet drive.

They are also priced close together. However, you should make sure that you have the large battery and select the fast charger for both solutions.

So what are the differences?

Handlebar

There are differences in the handlebar. While Fliteboard relies on a standard remote control that is locked into place, Aerofoils relies on an integrated remote control with a color display. The Flite solution has the advantage that you can also use the same remote control for eFoiling without a handlebar.

However, this solution also has disadvantages. With the Flitescooter, you have to reach into the middle of the handlebar to change gears. This can be challenging for beginners, as you may lose your balance briefly.

On the other hand, you accelerate the Flitescooter with your thumb. This was not possible mechanically with a remote control that was only engaged.

Aerofoils, on the other hand, was able to wire the handlebars internally using the internal remote control with a color display. There I have the switch on the left to change gears and on the right I accelerate with the index finger and/or middle finger. And that gives you a much better feeling.

Last but not least, the handlebar itself and the connection to the board look more robust and of higher quality on the Aerofoils. So this point goes to Audi Aerofoils.
Mast - Anti Breach System

The second major difference is the mast. On the one hand, the Fliteboard is made of aluminum and the Audi is made of carbon. Carbon not only looks more elegant, but is also the higher-quality material. Robust and light.

On the other hand, the rear wing (stabilizer) of Aerofoils is attached directly to the nozzle. This increases stiffness and thus ensures a smoother ride. Fliteboard has a connection under the jet to the tail wing. This is actually only necessary for a propeller drive. It can be seen here that Fliteboard is focusing all of its development on propeller drives, while Aerofoils is only developing eFoils with jet propulsion.

But even more important: Audi has a so-called anti-breach system. And that's what it is and a small hole in the mast that delivers air into the jet.

And this causes you to automatically drop a little bit when you get too high. I have to say, it works perfectly. Although it can't save you if you shoot up too fast, but in a long turn you tend to go higher and this is compensated for with the Anti Breach System.

If you want, you can also switch this function off. Unfortunately, the Flitescooter does not have this useful feature. So another point for Aerofoils.

eFoil Scooter - Safety

Incidentally, both scooters have a safety key. With Fliteboard, this is connected to the remote control via Bluetooth. You attach the safety key to your wrist with a Velcro strap and as soon as you fall into the water, the motor switches off. However, you have to regularly replace the battery of the Fliteboard safety key.

With Aerofoils, the whole thing is magnetic. The magnet is attached to the handlebar with a strap around your wrist. And as soon as you fall, the motor stops immediately. The advantage: on the one hand, you don't have to change batteries and on the other hand, the motor stops faster because you don't have to be underwater first.

We also shot an eFoil Scooter test video for the E-SURFER Youtube channel. Here you can see the differences in detail:

eFoil Scooter Conclusion

An experienced eFoiler won't throw away his eFoil and exchange it for an eFoil Scooter. Nevertheless, I also have funtaking my eFoil Scooters for a spin and my eFoil trainers confirm the same.

But essentially, it is just for people who want a nice tender in front of their boat, where they can glide to the restaurant in the evening with dry feet 😉 And of course for rental and for charter luxury yachts.

Or just for people who say, I'm not quite comfortable with the e-Foil. You can, if you don't go too fast, go up to 40 kilometers, so it's a great piece.

Regarding the question of whether Fliteboard or Aerofoils, I clearly see Aerofoils as having an advantage over the eFoil Scooter. The operation of the handlebars, materials and workmanship, and innovations such as the anti-breach system make all the difference here.
