Radinn is a Swedish manufacturer of electric surfboards and came to the market back in 2016 with the Wakejet. At that time referred to as a wakeboard with a motor.
Founder Philip Werner was a wakeboarder and had been experimenting with motorized surfboards since 2012. He later left the company and founded Awake Boards.
After the Wakejet came the GX2 board followed by the Explore in 2021. Today there is the Carve, Freeride and X-Sport model.
Radinn ceased operations at the end of 2023 and sold the Assets and Awake Boards.
Depending on the model, the price of a Radinn jetboard is between 10,000 and 17,500 EUR incl. 19% VAT. The cheapest model is the X-Sport, followed by the Freeride and the Carve. All models are available in two performance levels and two battery versions.
It is depending on the region, but basically yes. eSurfboards are classified in Germany for example by the Wasserstraßenschifffahrtsamt (WSA) as a water motorcycle (jet ski) and must carry a license plate as soon as they have more than 2.21 kW (3 hp) of power. Other rules may apply to local waters. For example, eSurfboards are not allowed on Bavarian lakes and Lake Constance. In Austria, the rules are not clear and in Switzerland, motorized surfboards are not allowed.
It is depending on the region. in Germany for example Jetboards are licensed as recreational craft and thus persons 16 years of age and older may operate them without a license, provided the power is less than 15 hp (11.03 kW). If a jetboard has a greater power, then a sport boat license is required. However, the Radinn jetboards are under 11 kW.
