Fliteboard

Fliteboard is an Australian manufacturer of electric hydrofoils (also called eFoils). CEO David Trewern and his team launched the first eFoil in 2018, which was designed from the beginning as a pure eFoilboard.

After Series 1, 2 and 2.2, Series 3 was launched in 2023, which now also supports jet propulsion. Four board sizes and lots of wings make for a large assortment. Our team will be happy to advise you to find the right setup.

The E-SURFER team has been in close contact with CEO David and his team since 2018. Every year there were meetings and interviews, as you can read in our blog article Fliteboards & E-SURFER.

FAQ
ANSWER TO
YOUR QUESTIONS

What is a Fliteboard?

A Fliteboard is an electric hydrofoil or eFoil from the Australian company Flite. Under the surfboard is a mast and underwater wings with an electric motor. This makes the board float about 70 cm above the water surface.

What does the Fliteboard cost?

All four Fliteboard models cost approx. 14,000 EUR incl. 19% VAT. The board comes complete with bags and all accessories.

Where can I buy Fliteboards?

You can buy the boards in our store in Berlin or in our online eFoil store.

How fast is the Fliteboard?

The Fliteboard reaches speeds of up to 50 km/h and more. The normal cruising speed is 25 km/h.

Is the Fliteboard allowed?

Basically yes. eFoils are classified in Germany by the Wasserstraßenschifffahrtsamt as small craft or "miscellaneous" and must carry a license plate as soon as they have more than 2.21 kW (3 hp) of power. Other rules may apply to local waters. For example, eFoils are not allowed on Bavarian lakes and Lake Constance. In Austria the rules are not clear and in Switzerland motorized surfboards are not allowed at all.

Do I need a driving license for the Fliteboard?

No, with one exception. eFoils are licensed as recreational craft and thus people 16 years and older may drive them without a license, as long as the power is less than 15 hp (11.03 kW). Fliteboards have a power of 5 kW. The exception are few waters, where the power limit is 5 hp (3.68 kW), such as on parts of the Rhine. You can find out more details from the local authorities, as well as the responsible waterway navigation office (WSA).
