mo-jet is an all in one Jetboard which uses different modules to transform the board into a Jetboard, bodyboard, diving scooter, inflatable or rescue Jetboard.

The mo-jet is developed in Hamburg, Germany from two industry veterans. Carsten Höltig and Benjamin Köhnsen were already part of the first Lampuga company and started to develop electric surfboards in 2009. After Lampuga they founded CURF which was renamed into Loawai and is now available under different ownership as Magic-Surf.

The new project mo-jet which is supposed to ship in March 2021 is using a modular system in order to use the same 11 kW output jet engine for very different use cases. With 116 kg trust it claims to handle riders up to 140 kg. This all in one Jetboard uses 5 different nose modules which can be changed within minutes to transform the board into:

  1. An Electric Jetboard
  2. An Electric Bodyboard (called Buddy NX1)
  3. A Diving scooter
  4. An Inflatable Jetboard
  5. A Rescue electric Surfboard

No component is longer than 95 cm or heavier than 17 kg, which makes it easy to transport. In Jetboard, Inflatable or Rescue Jetboard mode the board is accelerated by a 2.4 GHz remote control while in diving and bodyboard mode the speed is controlled directly with one of the handles. The plug & play battery has a weight of 17kg.

Setup as a Jetboard the dimensions are 182 x 60 x 20 cm with a weight of 39 kg incl. the battery. In this configuration the mo-jet is selling for around 10,000 EUR plus VAT and shipping. The package includes a jet module, a battery pack, a Jetboard nose module and an accessory case with the charger, a fin set, the emergency stop, steering cord and manual.

The polyethylene board is available in multiple color configurations (each module can have a different color) where you choose between blue, red and white. It claims a top speed of 65 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in 2.8 seconds. This is probably for light riders. The battery shall charge in 75 minutes and give a range of up to 30 minutes. This charging time is probably related to the optional quick charger.

Mo-jet electric Bodyboard called Buddy NX1

When using the shorter bodyboard nose the dimension are 132 x 60 x 20 cm and the weight including battery is 37 kg. With about 10,500 EUR plus VAT and shipping it is slightly more expensive than the Jetboard. This is probably because the bodyboard has no remote control, but a handle to control the speed. The smaller board makes it more agile and is designed to be surfed while kneeing or laying on your stomach.

All other specs are the same.

Diving Jet

While the Diving Jet looks very similar to the Buddy NX1 bodyboard it has a different nose model to enable diving and has instruments.  You dive by shifting your weight to the front. It is 1 kg heavier as the bodyboard setup, but has the same dimensions. The price is about 12,000 EUR plus VAT and shipping.

Inflatable Jetboard

Inflatable Jetboards such as the Lampuga Air are easier to ride as they have more volume and the soft SUP like hull avoids injuries. Mo-jet is offering an inflatable nose module for this use case. The weight 39 kg and the price of about 10,000 EUR plus VAT and shipping is identical with the Jetboard setup, but the dimensions are 220 x 60 x 20 cm.

Rescue Jetboard – The Lifeguard

This setup is especially designed for rescue services such as the rescue board from Lampuga. The board is 41 kg heavy and 280 cm long (60 cm wide and 20 cm high as the other Jetboards). It has 11 handles and can handle up to 3 persons. The price is around 10,200 EUR plus VAT and shipping.
